Construction Circle Add Diameter

Draws a construction circle by locating its center and setting its diameter.

1. Click the Construction Circle Add Diameter icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be found on the Drafting page > Layout section.

Alternative: Invoke Construction Circle Add Diameter using the Find Tool by searching the command name and clicking the icon, which is pictured above.

2. The status line prompts you to locate the center point of the construction circle. The Locate-Repeat-Return mouse bindings become active, and the Locate contextual page becomes active. Left-click (Locate) to set the center point.

Alternative: Press Esc or right-click (Return) to cancel the command without adding a construction circle at any time.

Tip: At any time while this command is active, you can set the Pen color in the Palette section on the Locate contextual page.

3. The status line prompts you to locate the diameter point. A preview of the construction circle is drawn on screen as you move your mouse. Drag the mouse pointer to the desired location and left-click (Locate).

Tip: You can also type the diameter and press Enter.

4. The command repeats step 2, allowing you to continue adding construction circles. Alternatively, you can press Esc or right-click (Return) to end the command.

Tip: Middle-click (Repeat) to add another construction circle that matches the one you just added.

  • Enabling annotations is recommended while using this command.
  • One reason to place a construction circle in the Drawing Editor is so that you can Dimension Add Arc. Another reason is so that you can snap to INCL points when taking measurements using the Ruler tool or locating points for adding members or materials.
  • The center of a construction circle uses an Exact Point locator.
